in scripture & tradition

Through baptism, the baptized person is freed from sin and is reborn again as a child of God (John 3:3-5). It is in baptism that Christ receives us into the body of his Church, Baptism of young children is a tradition that has been practiced since the begging of the Church (2nd Century), it is a practice of faith (Catechism of the Catholic Church 1250-52)

"Jesus answered and said to him, “Amen, amen, I say to you, no one can see the kingdom of God without being born from above.”
Nicodemus said to him, “How can a person once grown old be born again? Surely, he cannot reenter his mother’s womb and be born again, can he?”
Jesus answered, “Amen, amen, I say to you, no one can enter the kingdom of God without being born of water and Spirit." - John 3:3-5
